voice setup:
hands on the keys.
Talk to tonee while you play. Voice runs entirely on your device: speech-to-text never leaves your machine.
01 /Two ways to use voice
Hold ⌘. in the app
Hold ⌘. while tonee is focused. The input area switches to a recording state: pulsing red dot, live waveform, elapsed timer. Release to send.
Works from anywhere
A small orb that floats over your desktop, above Ableton, above everything. Hit ⌘. from any app and the orb wakes up. No need to switch windows.
02 /The floating orb
The orb uses VAD (voice activity detection). You don't need to hold anything. Hold ⌘. once to wake it, speak, and it stops recording automatically when you go quiet. Tap it to mute; drag it anywhere on screen.
03 /In-chat recording
When you hold ⌘. while tonee is focused, the chat input switches to recording mode. A pulsing red dot, an animated waveform, and an elapsed timer appear. Release the key. Your speech is transcribed and dropped into the input, ready to edit or send.
In-chat mode is manual hold-to-record (no VAD). Good for quick precise commands when you're already at the keyboard.
04 /First-time setup on Mac
On Mac, voice is off until you grant microphone access. On first use, macOS will show a permission dialog. Click Allow. If you dismissed it, enable it manually:
05 /Changing your mic
tonee uses your OS default input by default. To switch to a different device (an audio interface, a headset, an external mic), go to Settings → Voice → Input device and pick from the list. The change applies immediately, no restart needed.
If your interface isn't showing up, check that it's selected as an input in your OS sound settings first, because tonee mirrors whatever the system exposes.
