tracks & clips:
the shape of your session.
Create tracks, set properties, build out your session grid. Everything here is structural. MIDI note editing is section 13, and laying clips out on the timeline is section 14.
01 /Creating tracks
You can create MIDI tracks, audio tracks, and duplicate existing ones. Specify a position if you want it somewhere specific. Otherwise it lands at the end of your set.
02 /Track properties
All track properties are settable and reversible. You can target tracks by name, position, or description. tonee resolves ambiguous references by reading your current set.
Volume accepts natural language: "-6 dB", "half", "unity". Pan accepts "center", "30% left", or a value from -1.0 to 1.0.
03 /Clips
tonee works with MIDI clip slots: creating, deleting, and launching them. Audio clip creation isn't supported (you record those in Live). Clip naming, loop settings, and MIDI note content are detailed in section 10.
Specify a track and scene. Optionally set the length in bars or beats (defaults to 1 bar if not mentioned).
"create a 4-bar MIDI clip in ACID LN, scene 2"MIDI clips are reversible: tonee snapshots the notes before deleting. Audio clips need ⌘Z in Live.
"delete the clip in scene 3 on the sub bass"Fires the clip slot. Not reversible, because playback state is transient.
"play the drop scene on the pad bus"Stops the clip slot.
"stop the vocal clip"04 /Group tracks
tonee can read group structure and control fold state, but can't create group tracks. Ableton's Python API doesn't expose that operation.
